April 2026 was a month of massive transformation here at home. For the longest time, I’ve dreamt of having a dedicated space to create—a sanctuary where I could focus entirely on my glass work for LJHGlass without cluttering up the rest of the house.

Finally, that dream became a reality. We embarked on the project of building a garden studio from scratch. Seeing it go from just a structure in the garden to a fully kitted-out, cosy workspace has been an incredible journey.

The Transformation

It started with the basic shell—a lovely wooden structure that held so much potential. The early stages were all about insulation to ensure the studio would be usable year-round, regardless of the unpredictable British weather. Laying the floor and getting the insulation panels up felt like the real turning point; it suddenly felt less like a shed and more like a room.

Getting the insulation and flooring sorted.

Once the foundation was set, it was time to make it functional and cosy. We painted the interior to brighten the space, laid down flooring, and added the finishing touches that make it a true creative hub—from clever storage solutions for all my glass pieces to getting my workbench perfectly positioned.

Fresh paint and new flooring change everything.

A Creative Sanctuary

With my storage shelves organised, my tools in place, and a space dedicated solely to LJHGlass, I feel incredibly inspired. There is something truly special about walking out into the garden and stepping into a space that is designed specifically for my craft.

The workbench and jars of glass neatly organised.

Having everything organised—the jars of glass, the cutting mats, the work surfaces—means I can spend more time creating and less time setting up. I’m so excited to see what new pieces will emerge from this new studio!

All set up and approved by the studio assistant!

And here is the finished studio looking lovely from the outside, fully painted and nestled in the garden!

Thank you to everyone who has supported me on this journey. I can't wait to share more of what I’m making in this beautiful new space.
